About the Presidio
About Us
For generations Army soldiers lived with their families in the Presidio. Housing has always been an essential feature of the Presidio and is critical to the character of the place. The Presidio’s homes were constructed between 1885 and 1970. About one-third of the Presidio’s buildings are homes and speak to a long tradition of community within the gates. Today, the Presidio is a national park site distinctive among all others because a large community of people live and work here. Between 1998 and 2010 the Presidio Trust renovated the park’s housing for a new generation of occupants. There are 1,111 residences in 24 distinct and beautiful neighborhoods located around the park that the Presidio Residences team manages. A vibrant community of more than 3,000 people make their life in the Presidio, shaping the park with their energy and supporting its care through their rental income.
